They’re going to build one mile of streetcar line, and it’s going to cost $33 million. Nine city blocks — from Morris Avenue to Linn Park. No prize for guessing whose idea this is:
Hill said he has set a deadline of 18 to 24 months to complete the first phase of the streetcar project, which he said was designed at the behest of Mayor Larry Langford. He said he planned to meet with Langford soon to show him the plans.
“The mayor was very direct on it,” Hill said. “If he wants streetcars, I’m going to put them on the street.”
BMLL wanted to dig up the streets to expose the “historic” streetcar lines, but it’s cheaper to just put new ones in.
