Alabama Gov. Bob Riley’s proposed General Fund budget for fiscal 2009 leaves four health programs in a bind- al.com

[C]hildren needing insurance, patients needing AIDS medications, low-income women needing cancer screenings and frail senior citizens trying to stay out of nursing homes

That’s who’s left out of his budget. Yep, down goes S-CHIP. Maybe he’s looking to be McCain’s VP after all. Children, of course, don’t vote, and if they did they’d probably be Democrats. The AIDS patients and the old people will probably just die, as will any of the women whose cancer isn’t detected early, so who cares about them?

Now its up to the legislators to decide whats more important, four lane roads connecting Donor A’s home to her hunting lodge or public health.

Well said, Walt — and don’t forget money must be MUST BE earmarked to defeat the evils of legalized bingo. We have to save the souls; the bodies and minds, those are just containers…

“The moral test of a government is how it treats those who are at the dawn of life, the children; those who are in the twilight of life, the aged; and those who are in the shadow of life, the sick and the needy, and the handicapped.” - Hubert Humphrey (but who cares what he thinks?!?)

Or form their own party and sweep the bad seeds to the curb.

Someone should tell Bob R. that before you can save someones soul you must first save their life.
