Entire Council Abstains from Voting on Free Bus Rides - News - NBC13.com

Larry Langford’s campaign slogan was “Let’s Do Something!“, which I have to admit, is pretty much the best statement of his philosophy I can think of. Well, the Birmingham City Council, in what I can only think is a direct slap not only at BMLL’s policies but at his very soul, has countered with “We’re Not Going To Do Anything!” All nine council members abstained, as a group, from voting on Larry’s Free Bus Summer Jamboree. I can’t wait for his response.

I don’t know much about God

Tired of paying through the nose, Americans try praying at the pump - Yahoo! News

But I am fairly certain that He doesn’t perform miracles in order to bring down gas prices.

“Prayer is the answer to every problem in life… We call on God to intervene in the lives of the selfish, greedy people who are keeping these prices high,” Twyman said on the gas station forecourt in a neighborhood of Washington that, like many of its residents, has seen better days.

Furthermore, I am pretty certain that a just God would smite people who do things like this. This combination of selfishness and cluelessness is just the sort of thing that needs a good smiting.

Mayor Langford changes mind about Glen Iris development, blasts neighborhood’s councilwoman- al.com

Basically, if Langford hates your representative, he will make your life miserable. He changed his mind — only he is allowed to change his mind — and will let a developer build apartments instead of single-family homes. Says Crazy Larry: “The beauty about this is it does not require a vote of the City Council.” Because voting is bad.
