Like I said, only a moderate exaggeration

Tropical Weather and Storms – Hurricane Updates from weather.com

A couple of weeks ago, I linked to an Onion video, Hurricane Bound For Texas Slowed By Large Land Mass To The South. I said that this was only “a moderate exaggeration” of how the news media reports on hurricanes. As proof, I offer this quote from The Weather Channel’s latest hurricane story:

Some of the latest model track guidance points to a potential path that would take Ike across Cuba, on a east to west track. Although this is not a good outcome for Cuba, it would be a positive outcome for south Florida and the Florida Keys. The center of Ike would stay south of Florida and the interaction with Cuba would allow Ike to weaken significantly.

  1. I saw that too and thought of your previous post. I couldn’t believe they actually said it.

  2. Sounds like what happens when the scientist takes over from the clownish sidekick most TV weather critters do most of the time.
