With all due respect, he doesn’t. Oh, I have no doubt that he understands, far better than I, the reality of fighting a war. Everybody’s having fun with this wingnut who wants Bush to nuke Iraq, seize dictatorial power via military coup, and anoint himself President of the World For Life (I am not making any of that up) but here’s my little quibble.
Caesar pacified Gaul by mass slaughter; he then used his successful army to crush all political opposition at home and establish himself as permanent ruler of ancient Rome. This brilliant action not only ended the personal threat to Caesar, but ended the civil chaos that was threatening anarchy in ancient Rome – thus marking the start of the ancient Roman Empire that gave peace and prosperity to the known world.
Um… Does this guy know what happened to Caesar? It’s very famous. Shakespeare wrote a play about it and everything.
