Great, racists

Racial slur, threat against Obama at UA – Breaking News from The Birmingham News –

I got an email last week from the Provost condemning the tearing down of a poster and a graffiti slur against a political candidate. No further details. Turns out that the candidate was (surprise!) Barack Obama, and that the slur was (surprise!) racial.

The only thing that actually surprised me was that it was at the College of Communication. I figured it would be History, which has traditionally been crawling with neo-Confederates.

Maher: still an idiot

Left In Alabama:: T-Town Apology Movement Revs Up

He owes Tuscaloosa an apology. Maybe Andy Sullivan can bring it up next time he’s on the show.

I’ve got nothing

So I’ll just open up the request lines. This one goes out to Sarah Palin!

Yes we Dewey

025.431: The Dewey blog: And the winner is . . .

Barring the unforeseen, the next period in U.S. history will begin on January 20, 2009, with the inauguration of Barack Obama as the 44th President of the United States. The updates to Dewey are underlined below:

973.93 2001–

973.931 Administration of George W. Bush, 2001–2009

973.932 Administration of Barack Obama, 2009–

And we have

Yes we did

I never thought I’d live to see it. I love America.

Anderson Cooper needs to get his science fiction series straight

He just said that CNN’s (ridiculous) holographic projections of people not in the studio looked like when in Star Trek they would beam down. This is completely ridiculous. It looks like in Star Wars when they’d have a hologram. I think Josh Marshall earlier tonight made the “Help me, Obi-Wan Blitzer” joke but it came immediately to mind for me too.

It’s high in the middle and round on the ends …

And Ohio goes blue. All Obama has to do is hold on to the Pacific Coast and Hawaii. Actually, with New Mexico he can lose Oregon, which he won’t.

Y’all can go to bed now

NBC calls Pennsylvania for Obama. It’s hard to see any way McCain can win without Pennsylvania even if he pulls out Indiana and Virginia.

It’s a sign!

So, where is my polling place located?

Now, that’s a good omen.
